Landscaping inauguration

On Friday 23 May, the Syndicat Mixte du Grand Site de France Conca d’Oru, vineyard of Patrimonio – Gulf of Saint-Florent organised the inauguration of several landscaping projects and footpaths.

The protection and restoration of landscapes, the improvement of visitor facilities, and the development of soft and active modes of transport are among the key missions of a Grand Site.

That is why today, in the presence of the six mayors of the municipalities within the Grand Site area, institutional partners and the Prefect of Haute-Corse, Michel Prosic, our Grand Site inaugurated the following developments:

⛰️ Landscaping at the Teghime Pass, gateway to the Grand Site, through the restoration of a military casemate and a space paying tribute to Ernest BONACOSCIA, an emblematic figure who marked the history of the Teghime Pass by participating in the liberation of Corsica during the Second World War.

Development of the Barbaggio panoramic viewpoint, from where visitors can now admire the Conca d'Oru and the limestone chain of Mount Sant'Anghjulu in all their splendour.

Creation (opening and signage installation) of four walking trails in the area: the Balcons Panoramic Trail (starting from the Barbaggio viewpoint) and the village loops of Farinole (Chjassu di u Cunventu), Barbaggio (Chjassu Napuleone) and Oletta/Poggio d'Oletta (Chjassu Maria Gentile).

These large-scale projects are dedicated to promoting the region's natural and historical heritage.

They enable Teghime to be described as a major gateway to the Grand Site, offering remarkable panoramic views of the landscapes.

Through the development of the Casemate and the Ernest BONACOSCIA space, a true hero of the Battle of Col de Teghime, these projects also bear witness to the history of our region.

Finally, through its footpaths, the Grand Site is laying the foundation for its «sustainable transport plan».

We hope you will be pleased with these improvements and look forward to seeing you there soon!
