European Heritage Days 2024 – 21/22 September

A look back at a weekend full of discoveries!

During European Heritage Days, several events took place in the Grand Site de France area. This year, maritime heritage and the heritage of networks and connections were in the spotlight, and our visitors were delighted to discover the rich landscapes of the Grand Site through these themes.

The coastline of the Grand Site, between rocky inlets limestone cliffs and sandy or pebble beaches, as sublime as it is little known, was highlighted by an informative and insightful lecture by Mr Guy Meria at the Maison des Vins de Patrimonio.

The morning continued in sunny weather along the coastline between Saint-Florent and Farinole. During a guided walk, participants travelled back in time, discovering or rediscovering the history of the Gulf of Saint-Florent from ancient times to the present day. They also had the opportunity to observe the coastal flora and fauna, so emblematic of the Mediterranean!

The following day, another guided walk allowed us to explore the vernacular and rural heritage of the Grand Site. Our guide was accompanied by the fascinating explanations of the CAUE agents.

In addition, to provide an overview of the area, the Grand Site de France visitor centre was naturally open to all free of charge throughout the weekend! Many visitors passed through the doors of the interpretation centre and left enriched by their experience!

We would like to thank all visitors for participating in the discovery of natural heritage during these two days at the Grand Site de France!
